Part 1, Zionism – Israel Was Not a Race

Zionist believe that Old Testament Israel is carried on today in Judaism or in those who are of Jewish “descent”. Jewish decent gets a bit muddled among Zionist opinion, but is typically defined as either those who are a different race from other people on the planet (Jews) and are direct ancestors of Abraham or for those Zionist who correctly do not believe in different races, Jews are simply those who are a direct blood lineage (ancestors) of Abraham.  Due to either of these views,  Zionist unanimously hold that the Jews are owed by God the land of Israel.  However, we will show in Part 1 that Zionism is based on man made racial divisions not found in the Bible as well as man made ancestral lineages that can not exist today and that Israel was a gathering of various people (an Church in a sense) worshiping the one True God.

We all know the story of Adam and Eve and how they were the first humans God created. As such they are the parents of all humans on the planet today. This is a fact that can not be denied. Even scientist point to what they call Y-chromosomal Adam and Mitochondrial Eve and say that all humans on Earth originated from these two ancient first parents. ALL humans on the planet suffer the consequences of the Fall and the same tendency to sin as Adam and Eve did.

After the flood Noah and his family were the sole survivors and ALL humans common shared ancestor. All people on Earth today are related to him and his family.

The only point in the Old Testament where humans are finally divided is found in Genesis Chapter 11,  in the story of the Tower of Babel:

6 And [the] LORD said, Behold, there is kind one and  lip one for all, and this they began to do. The [things] now shall not fail from them, all as much as they might attempt to do. 7 Come, and going down, let us confound their language, that they should not hearken to each the voice of the neighbor.- ABP, Greek Septuagint

6 And the LORD said, Behold, the people [is] one, and they have all one language; and this they begin to do: and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do. 7 Go to, let us go down, and there confound their language, that they may not understand one another’s speech. – KJV, Hebrew Text

Yet, we read here that God separated people by languages not by creating separate races.

Zionist typically ignore these people and jump straight to Abraham claiming that God made a covenant with him and his ancestors.

Abraham was to become the father of many Nations. In the Old Testament God makes a covenant with Abraham:

Genesis 12: 1 And the Lord said to Abram, Go forth out of thy land and out of thy kindred, and out of the house of thy father, and come into the land which I will shew thee. 2 And I will make thee a great nation, and I will bless thee and magnify thy name, and thou shalt be blessed. 3 And I will bless those that bless thee, and curse those that curse thee, and in thee shall all the tribes of the earth be blessed.

In Genesis 17:4:

4 And behold, my covenant [is] with you, and you will be father of a multitude of nations.

Nations and Tribes are not races.

In the Masoretic text the word for Nations is:

H1471 גּוֹי gowy (go’-ee) n-m.
גֹּי goy (go’-ee) [shortened (rarely)] 1. a foreign nation.
2. (hence) a Gentile.
3. (figuratively) a troop of animals, or a flight of locusts.

The word Goy is misused by some today to mean a “Gentile” as in a Caucasian or non-semetic and non-Jewish person. However, this is not what the word means. In the LXX the Greek the word for Nation is:

G1484 ἔθνος ethnos (eth’-nos) n.

which means a tribe, culture, ethnic group.

Nation and Nationality is best described as a tribe, culture or ethnicity, not race. Since the Masoretic text is a corrupt text that did not exist in Old Testament times we will use the Greek which states that Israel was an ethnos. It should be noted as well that the Greek words for race are phyle and phylo, which are never used in the Bible text.

If we were to go with modern Zionist propaganda on race, Abraham would be excluded from being the father of the Jews,  since he was literally the father of many “Goy” or non-Jews according to the modern usage of the word Goy. Thus, following Zionist propaganda, Abraham would not be the same “race” as the Israelites.

To add to this problem Zionist use Abraham and Genesis 12 to show that we are cursed if we do not support Israel. Israel however did not exist at Abraham’s time which brings us to Jacob where we see the name Israel for the first time:

Genesis 32:28 And he said to him, Thy name shall no longer be called Jacob, but Israel shall be thy name; for thou hast prevailed with God, and shalt be mighty with men.

God did not change Jacob’s race, he only changed his name to Israel,   because Jacob wanted to know God so desperately, and he prevailed with God. In Genesis 28:13-15, Jacob is promised that all the Earth will be blessed through him:

13 And the LORD stayed upon it. And he said, I [am] the God of Abraham your father, and the God of Isaac. Do not fear! The land of which you sleep upon it, to you I will give it, and [to] your seed.
14 And will be your seed as sand of the earth. And it will be widened unto [the] west, and south, and north, and unto [the] east. And shall be blessed by you all the tribes of the earth, and by your seed.

God’s promise to Jacob included ALL the tribes of the Earth, just as God’s promise to Abraham did.

Next, Abraham’s kin are taken from Egypt, from captivity,  and God makes a Covenant with them that is known as the Old Covenant:

Deuteronomy 14:2:  2 For thou art a holy people to the Lord thy God, and the Lord thy God has chosen thee to be a peculiar people to himself of all the nations on the face of the earth.

These are a peculiar people the Bible says, but not a separate race of humans. For one, being a descendant of someone has nothing to do with race. As we have shown all people are the descendants of Abraham, back to Noah and then Adam and Eve.  Descendants are simply your relatives which can included many different cultures and backgrounds, and different skin tones.

In Deuteronomy, when Abraham’s kin are becoming Israel, they are becoming a distinct ethnos or culture.

Israel was to be a new tribe on the Earth, one that was a literal assembly or multitude of people called out to worship the one true God:

Deuteronomy 31:30: 30 And Moses spoke into the ears of all [the] assembly of Israel the words of this ode, until completion.

This word assembly is used multiple times in the Old Testament for Israel, in describing what they were. They were chosen people who were called out from captivity to worship the one true God:

G1577 ἐκκλησία ekklesia (ek-klee-siy’-a) n.
1. (literally) a “calling out.”
2. (concretely, of Greece) an assembly of citizens (as called out by the town crier for a specific purpose).
3. (specifically, of Jesus) a called out assembly of the Redeemed of Jesus (Yeshua).
4. (specially, of Jesus) the citizenry of the Redeemed of Jesus whether being on earth or in heaven or both.
5. (of ancient continuity) a called out assembly (of the Redeemed Kinsmen of Yahweh— out of captivity; see Nehemiah 8:8, then Exodus 6:6, Exodus 15:13).
6. (Note #1) (“called out assembly” is first used by context in the Old Covenant in Nehemiah 8:8, Isaiah 1:13, Isaiah 4:5).
7. (Note #2) (some of the Septuagint translators did not recognize and grasp this Hebraic context, and they mistranslated the Hebrew and also frequently misapplied this Greek word elsewhere, obscuring and distorting its meaning and application).
{used only of people, not a location, structure, etc. Of Christ, used only of the Redeemed, not of the unredeemed in their midst}

In the New Testament this word assembly is known as the Church, the body of Christ = Israel. Those who are called out from captivity to worship the one True God by faith in Jesus.

In the case of Old Testament Israel, they were set aside as people or a multitude worshiping YHWH in contrast to the tribes around them who worshiped many pagan deities. They were to be a light to the other pagan tribes and bring to others the knowledge of the one True God and the coming Messiah. Israel was not a Nation either as some would erroneously claim, not in the sense of a National modern political entity. This did not happen until later when Israel demanded a King and God told them it would not turn out to be a  good thing.

In the Old Testament anyone, could become a member of this assembly of the Israelites by agreeing to keep the covenant:

Exodus 12:48 And if any proselyte shall come to you to keep the passover to the Lord, thou shalt circumcise every male of him, and then shall he approach to sacrifice it, and he shall be even as the original inhabitant of the land; no uncircumcised person shall eat of it.

It did not matter where you came from, what you looked like, or what your skin color was. In fact, Moses’ wife was an Ethiopian. If races really existed, she was thus of a different race yet part of Israel. But this is a myth. It did not matter to God who your close relatives were or your family tree, what color your skin was, etc. You were an Israelite if you kept the Covenant and if they, like Jacob, truly wanted to know the one true God. True most were Abraham’s close kin, but that has nothing to do with his relatives in general as we are all today descended from Abraham which we will come back to in Part 2.

Going back a moment to the inclusion of all people in the Old Covenant, the word proselyte shows that those who were “outside” of Israel, were simply from a foreign region, not a different race:

The word for proselyte is:

G4339 προσήλυτος proselutos (pros-ee’-lï-tos) n.
1. an arriver from a foreign region.

The following verses are only a few more, out of many, showing that the Israelites were to include everyone who wanted to become part of them with no standard of race or lineage:

Exodus 12:49 There shall be one law to the native, and to the proselyte coming among you.

Numbers 9:14:  14 And if there should come to you a stranger in your land, and should keep the passover to the Lord, he shall keep it according to the law of the passover and according to its ordinance: there shall be one law for you, both for the stranger, and for the native of the land.

Deuteronomy 26:11:  11 and thou shalt rejoice in all the good [things], which the Lord thy God has given thee, [thou] and thy family, and the Levite, and the stranger that is within thee.

Joshua 8:33:  33 And all Israel, and their elders, and their judges, and their scribes, passed on one side and on the other before the ark; and the priests and the Levites took up the ark of the covenant of the Lord; and the stranger and the native [were there], who were half of them near mount Garizin, and half near mount Gaebal, as Moses the servant of the Lord commanded at first, to bless the people.

Joshua 8:35:  35 There was not a word of all that Moses charged Joshua, which Joshua read not in the ears of all the assembly of the children of Israel, the men, and the women, and the children, and the strangers that joined themselves to Israel.

Once the land inheritance entered the picture,  the land was to be shared with all of Israel showing it was not a race of people who inherited, nor did Abraham’s close kin via genealogy matter:

Ezekiel 47: 21 So ye shall divide this land to them, [even] to the tribes of Israel.
22 Ye shall cast the lot upon it, for yourselves and the strangers that sojourn in the midst of you, who have begotten children in the midst of you: and they shall be to you as natives among the children of Israel; they shall eat with you in [their] inheritance in the midst of the tribes of Israel.
23 And they shall be in the tribe of proselytes among the proselytes that are with them: there shall ye give them an inheritance, saith the Lord God.

5. Israel was later separated from the tribe of Judah or the Jews:

The Israelite’s were later separated into two Nations. And this is where Nationalism similar to how we know it today comes into play. The tribe of Judah became arrogant and puffed up with a sense of National pride and looked down upon the North where the other tribes had been exiled. The North was called the House of Israel in the Old Testament and the South,  the House of Judah. The house of Israel was eventually absorbed into the other “Nations” and during Jesus’ incarnation He literally said that He came for the House of Israel.

The tribe of Judah however was never lost but was sent into exile in Babylon and many from the tribe of Judah came back with a new religion called Babylonian Judaism. In the New Testament under Christ, the Law, the Priesthood, the ways of worship change to the reality, heavenly Israel, which is ruled by Christ. The same assembly of Israel from the Old Testament continues into the New. Recall in Deuteronomy where the Old Testament Nation of Israel was called a peculiar people:

Deuteronomy 14:2:  2 For thou art a holy people to the Lord thy God, and the Lord thy God has chosen thee to be a peculiar people to himself of all the nations on the face of the earth.

There is only one Israel and it continues in the Church:

1 Peter 2: 4 To whom coming, [as unto] a living stone, disallowed indeed of men, but chosen of God, [and] precious, 5 Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ. 6 Wherefore also it is contained in the scripture, Behold, I lay in Sion a chief corner stone, elect, precious: and he that believeth on him shall not be confounded. 7 Unto you therefore which believe [he is] precious: but unto them which be disobedient, the stone which the builders disallowed, the same is made the head of the corner, 8 And a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offence, [even to them] which stumble at the word, being disobedient: whereunto also they were appointed. 9 But ye [are] a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:

Some erroneously call this replacement theology. However, in doing so they are denying that the Old Testament is about Jesus,  not about a “race” of people.  Israel is never replaced only brought into the reality of the Church as the body of Christ. This is called fulfillment of God’s plan,  not replacement.
